Fredericksburg Photographer | Retro-inspired 50th Birthday Photoshoot

We have known Zakia for several years now, she was the first client that contacted us for her branding session. This time, she wanted to celebrate turning 50 with a birthday photoshoot in Fredericksburg.

We decided to ask her about her experience after the shoot.

“My dream photo shoot was Old school glam, more specifically the 1940’s. The women were so glamorous!”

Stepping in front of the camera was amazing! It was everything I thought it would be! It was a moment in time, dedicated just to me!

Being a mother of five and a fitness instructor doesn’t leave much time to herself and we wanted to make sure that her birthday photo shoot was special.

“My favorite part was the costume changes. Each change represented exactly what I felt at that moment.”

She chose 4 looks: a crushed velvet red gown, a red and black polka-dot dress, a 50th birthday shirt, and for her last look; fitness apparel.

Choosing the Right Birthday Photoshoot Location

We settled on Oddbox Studios because of its location and all of the amenities it provided. The great thing about renting the studio, they have various lighting equipment that we could use and props.

We know a lot of our clients are not used to being front and center. To loosen her up, we played music and demonstrated some of the poses for her.

If I could do anything different, I would have worn a swimsuit as well but I chickened out. Other than that, I would have changed NOTHING!”
